Georges Niang is a professional American basketball player who plays in the USA major basketball league for the Atlanta Hawks as of March 2025. Niang was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, but shifted to Tilton, where he studied at Tilton School. He ended his high school career posting a school-record 2,372 points. As a senior, he averaged 25.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game and was considered one of the best players on the East Coast. Niang joined the Iowa State Cyclones men’s basketball team in 2012 and played all four years for them. He appeared in 138 games, averaging 16.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. He was also named to two-time First-team All-Big 12 consecutively and was awarded with the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award in 2016.

Niang was drafted as the 50th overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NBA draft by the Indiana Pacers. He appeared in 23 games in his debut season while staying inside the court for 4.0 minutes per game. Niang joined the Atlanta Hawks on February 5, 2025, after playing for five different teams in the NBA previously. As of March 21, 2025, he has made 532 regular season appearances, scoring 3,905 points and grabbing 1,334 rebounds.
