Thor attended the University of Auburn and played for the Auburn Tigers men’s basketball team. In his freshman year as a Tiger, he averaged 9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. Thor let go of his remaining college eligibility and declared for the 2021 NBA draft.

In the 2022-23 NBA season, Thor played 69 games with the Hornets and averaged 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game that year. After his three seasons with the Hornets, In September 2024, he signed a two-way contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers but was waived in March 2025. After clearing his waivers Thor signed with the Wizards and made his official debut for the Wizards on 11 March 2025 in a loss against the Raptors.
