Jalen Brunson is getting trolled by NBA fans online after a towel boy was called for a technical foul in Saturday's game in New Orleans. A Pelicans staff member was ensuring the safety of the players when a referee issued the technical foul for a delay-of-game violation.
At the 4:19 mark of the second quarter, Brunson was about to receive the ball when a ball boy went onto the court to wipe a wet spot. The New York Knicks star immediately reacted, even gesturing for the towel boy to be given a technical foul.
The referee obliged — not because of Brunson, of course — but due to the delay-of-game violation caused by the staff member. Towel boys usually dry wet spots during play, though they typically wait until the players are on the other side of the court or until there’s a dead-ball situation.

NBA fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to call out Brunson for "snitching" to the official. While it wasn’t a serious matter, it was a rare situation since towel boys usually aren’t called for technical fouls.
"Brunson a snitch," a fan wrote.
"Brunson really tried to snitch trying to get the man T’d up," one fan opined.
"Brunson got a freethrow from it. NBA is done...," another fan claimed.
Jalen Brunson made the technical free throw, but it didn’t significantly affect the outcome as the Knicks cruised past the New Orleans Pelicans, 104-93.
"If you ain’t cheating you ain’t trying," a fan tweeted.
"Brunson snitching when someone tryna do they job," one fan commented.
"Brunson doing his best CP3 impersonation," another fan remarked.
The Knicks improved to 18-10 on the season, while the Pelicans dropped to 5-26. Brunson finished the game with 39 points and six assists.
NBA legend praises Jalen Brunson for changing his game, predicts Knicks will fall short
With the arrival of Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges, Jalen Brunson’s scoring has decreased this season. However, his assists have increased, changing his game to focus more on being a playmaker, though he knows when to take over and score.
Speaking on "KG Certified" last month, Boston Celtics legend and Hall of Famer Paul Pierce praised Brunson for making the right adjustments to his game.
"I said that Brunson had to change his game," Pierce said, according to NBA Analysis. "I like the way he playing because he is more of a facilitator too. And he knows when, 'It’s time for me to score now.' He mixing that up."
Pierce also predicted the Knicks would fall short in the playoffs due to their lack of depth unless the front office makes moves to improve it before the trade deadline.
