Jalen Brunson clears his feelings about the Dallas Mavericks
Jalen Brunson has become a superstar at the New York Knicks, but before that, he was a beloved rookie at the Dallas Mavericks.
He played four seasons at the franchise before signing with the Knicks as a free agent after the Mavs didn't pursue his services. In an interview on the Taylor Rooks show, Rooks asked JB about leaving as a free agent and the Mavs not pursuing him aggressively.
"I feel like at the end of my time in Dallas, I was starting to get there. There was never assurance from them, there was never assurance from me. … I feel like I have definitely established myself more now the past two years than I did my first four years," Brunson said.
Brunson was a solid player at the Mavs but was not the exceptional Knicks talent he's now.
He wasn't a player around whom a franchise could build a team; instead, he was a support for the Mavs star Luka Doncic. After his departure, Brunson shome in New York, and the Mavs brought in Kyrie Irving to help out Doncic.
Jalen Brunson, though, doesn't hold any grudges with the franchise for choosing to let him go instead of persuading him to stay
