Tyler Herro is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before starting his NBA career, he played college basketball for the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

Herro attended Whitnall High School in Greenfield, Wisconsin where he was a standout basketball player. As a senior in high school in 2018, he averaged 32.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.

Herro played one season of college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats in 2018-2019. As a freshman at Kentucky, he averaged 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 35.5% from 3-point range. He helped lead the Wildcats to the Elite Eight of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. He was named to the All-SEC Second Team and the SEC All-Freshman Team following his stellar first college season.

Herro decided to forego his remaining college eligibility after one year and declared for the 2019 NBA draft.

So far this season in 2023-24 through 8 games, Herro is averaging a career-high 22.9 points along with 5.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. With Herro's continued development and scoring punch, the Heat hope to contend for another NBA championship this year. His outstanding play in his young career has already helped lead the Heat to two NBA Finals appearances and they will continue to rely on his offensive production moving forward.

As a rookie in the 2019-2020 season, Herro averaged 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 39.1% from the 3-point line. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team for his strong first season. In the playoffs that year, he helped lead the Heat to the NBA Finals where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.

In his second season, Herro increased his scoring average to 15.1 points per game while also averaging 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists. He shot 36.0% from 3-point territory that season. The Heat reached the first round of the playoffs before being swept by the Milwaukee Bucks.

Whereas in 2021-2022, Herro took on a larger role and emerged as the Heat's second-leading scorer behind Jimmy Butler. He averaged 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 39.9% on 3-pointers. He won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award for his contributions off the bench. The Heat reached the Eastern Conference Finals before losing to the Boston Celtics.

However, in the 2022-23 season, Herro averaged around 20.1 points with 5.4 rebounds. His outstanding performance along with Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler led the team to the NBA Finals. Unfortunately, the Heat lost the Finals to the Denver Nuggets.
