About Unrivaled
Unrivaled Basketball is therefore a giant leap in women’s professional basketball. Co-founded by the WNBA stars and Olympic champions, Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, this new 3-on-3 league will start in January 2025 in Miami. The league includes six teams with six players each. While Unrivaled stands out in the broader market of women’s basketball leagues, offering an array of premium services, its vision is to become the main destination for WNBA players to compete and earn money off-season.
Earlier, players had to move abroad just to play and earn their living. Unrivaled challenges this narrative by availing domestic opportunities that enable players to remain in the United States as they sharpen their skills in foreign. The league is based around the full-throttle 3-on-3 associated with the game and boosted by its participation in the Olympics. It helps to promote the psychological skills of players, and it is an entertaining kind of game which fans of basketball can watch during the WNBA offs.
When Does the Season Start?
The Unrivaled Basketball inaugural season launches on January 17, 2025, and runs for eight weeks. Games will be played three times weekly—Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Where to Watch the Unrivled?
TNT Sports holds the broadcast rights, with Monday and Friday games airing on TNT and Saturday on truTV. Fans can stream all games on Max, ensuring widespread accessibility.
Season Format
The season spans nine weeks, including playoffs, with a structured round-robin format. Each game night features two matchups, allowing all six teams to face each other multiple times. The top four teams advance to single-elimination playoffs, determining the champion. The league has established its dedicated facility in Miami, serving as the central venue for all games during the inaugural season.
Game Structure
Unrivaled introduces innovative court dimensions and game timing. The court measures 70 feet long, shorter than the WNBA's 94-foot court while maintaining the standard 50-foot width. Games consist of four seven-minute quarters, compared to the WNBA's ten-minute quarters. The 3-on-3 format creates more open space for players, promoting dynamic gameplay. While complete rules regarding shot clock and fouls are pending, league co-founder Napheesa Collier describes the gameplay as "normal basketball with more spacing," suggesting familiar basketball fundamentals with adaptations for the 3-on-3 format.
