The Florida Gators are still alive in the College World Series against all odds. The worst-seeded school of the SEC batch of participants has eliminated the NC State Wolfpack in their Monday elimination game. The Gators leapfrogged the Wolfpack by the minimum possible difference, with a final score of 5-4.

Florida's Jac Caglianone, who was the Gators' starter today, spoke with NCAA Digital reporter Michella Chester in the aftermath of the game. She asked him how the Gators managed to keep advancing in this tournament, to which he replied:

"Just fight for each other, its the biggest thing. I didn't have my best stuff up in the mound today but luckily we had Cade Fisher and Clemente and Neely to come out and do their job and really hold it down for us and give us exactly what we needed to get by," Caglianone said.

Caglianone just pitched one inning on Monday, facing seven batters. He allowed one hit and one earned run. He also gave up two walks. He was relieved by Cade Fisher, who threw four innings, while allowed four hits and three earned runs.

Florida's victory proves the SEC's superiority over the ACC in this College World Series

The victory also shows the superiority of the SEC over the ACC, with no school from the latter conference beating one of the former so far. Only SEC and ACC schools made this year's edition of the College World Series.

Two ACC schools have already packed their bags and will be leaving Omaha. One of those is NC State, after their defeat to the Gators. Virginia is also eliminated, after losing to fellow ACC school of Florida State.

The SEC has already secured three spots in the semifinals. Tennessee and Texas A&M have already secured spots in the semifinals, and the third spot for the SEC will be given to the winner of the game between the Gators and Kentucky.

The winner of said game will play Texas A&M. The winner of the game between Florida State and North Carolina will advance to the semifinal against Tennessee.
