College World Series 2024

The NCAA Men’s College World Series (MCWS), simply known as the College World Series (CWS) is the final stage of the NCAA Division I baseball championship. Organized in Omaha, Nebraska, United States in June every year, this tournament crowns the best college baseball team as the National Champion.

The College World Series began in 1947 when it was held at Hyames Field in Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States. The event relocated to Lawrence Stadium in Wichita, Kansas, United States in 1949. They finally settled in Omaha, Nebraska, United States from 1950 and have continued to host the tournament there ever since.

The USC Trojans have made the most out of the tournament, winning the National Champions 12 times. They are trailed by the LSU Tigers in the second spot with Texas Longhorns ranking third. The Men’s College World Series will start on June 14, 2024, with the final scheduled for June 22-24, 2024.

College World Series Format 2024

The college world series for men’s basketball is categorized into the following format - regionals, super regionals, MCWS games and MCWS finals -

Selection Show*

This is the introduction stage of the format. Here, all 64 teams that have made it to the College World Series are officially introduced to the fans.

Regionals

This is the first stage of the tournament. In this stage, the 64 competing teams are divided into 16 brackets, consisting of four teams each. These teams are seeded #1 to #4 and they play a double-elimination tournament, which creates a winner from each bracket, resulting in 16 winners, one from each bracket.

Super Regionals

This is the second stage of the tournament. Here, the 16 teams from the regional round are categorized into eight pairings. They play a best of three series with eight teams remaining at the end of the super regionals.

Men’s College World Series

This is the third stage of the tournament. Here the winners from the super regionals make it to the College World Series, where they are divided into two double-elimination brackets. The winner of each bracket proceeds to the final.

Men’s College World Series Finals

This is the last stage of the tournament. Here the final two teams play a best-of-three final series to determine the National Champion.
