“It’s unbelievable” - Aggies star Braden Montgomery has ecstatic reaction as Texas A&M bags 3-2 victory against Florida in CWS opener

Texas A&M Aggies star Braden Montgomery was visibly thrilled after the Aggies recorded their first win of the College World Series on Saturday. The Aggies managed a narrow 3-2 win over Florida at Charles Schwab Field.

Montgomery, who has been ruled out for the entire CWS due to an ankle injury, was asked about his feelings after the Aggies won their opening game in Omaha. He was on the field on his bike at the time of his brief interview.

"That was awesome. I thought it was unbelievable. I love it. Anytime you get a win in Omaha it's unbelievable, so we just want to keep it going."

The Aggies got their win on Saturday, thanks to some strong performances from their pitchers. Justin Lamkin (three innings), Chris Cortez (three innings), and Evan Aschenbeck (three innings) combined for 16 strikeouts.

Texas A&M (50-13) will square off against Kentucky (46-14) in the winners' bracket of the CWS on Monday at 7 p.m. ET. The Wildcats beat North Carolina State 5-4 in 10 innings earlier on Saturday in their opening game of the CWS.

Braden Montgomery injured his ankle in Game 1 of the Bryan-College Station Super Regional series against Oregon. In the first innings, the outfielder was rounding third attempting to score before getting tripped near home plate.

Montgomery remained down on the field for a few minutes before being helped to the dugout by the Aggies training staff. After getting some treatment, he was spotted in the dugout with an air cast on his leg.

Montgomery underwent surgery on his leg last week and was effectively ruled out for the remainder of the postseason. Although Montgomery won't be playing a part for the Aggies in the final stretch of the College World Series, he will be cheering his team on from the sidelines.
