The North Carolina Tar Heels' youngest player, Jason DeCaro and their oldest player, Anthony Donofrio got together to produce a fun interaction during their College World Series journey this year. In an Instagram video posted by NCAA Baseball, the duo teamed up to answer a set of questions that highlighted their near six-year age gap.
Before the questions even came in, 18-year-old DeCaro left Donofrio awestruck when he revealed he was born in 2006. Meanwhile, Donofrio, who was born in 2000, will turn 24 nine days from today.
The first question the North Carolina duo was asked was, 'How old is old?' While Donofrio admitted he would classify anything before 2000 as old, DeCaro revealed it would be anything before 2002. This means DeCaro would classify Donofrio as someone who is old.
Next, they asked about the first movie they watched in a movie theater. DeCaro revealed he watched The Lorax, one of the many animated Dr. Seuss movies on his seventh birthday. Meanwhile, Donofrio revealed it was Kingsman, a spy thriller featuring comedy and action elements in a great mix.
They were then asked when they got their first cell phone and what kind it was. DeCaro said he got his first cell phone in sixth grade when he got a second-hand pink iPhone 5C from his sister. While Donofrio admitted he was 13 when he got his first cell phone, he didn't reveal its exact kind. However, he said it was definitely not an iPhone.
The final question involved them revealing the first concert they ever attended. Their answers highlighted their age gap as DeCaro revealed it was when he watched the Zac Brown Band, a popular band from the 2000s. Meanwhile, Donofrio admitted it was the popular 70's band The Allman Brothers, with DeCaro soon admitting he had never heard of them.
DeCaro and Donofrio have been standouts for the North Carolina Tar Heels
The teenager DeCaro has been extremely impressive in his freshman season, recording 78 strikeouts and a 6-1 record with an ERA of 3.81 in 89.2 innings pitched. And although Donofrio has scored just seven home runs, he has driven in 53 runs with an average of .326, which is the third-best on the roster.
The duo played a major role in helping North Carolina secure the ACC regular season title as well as the No. 4 national seed. However, the Tar Heels will not have a chance to add the College World Series title to their trophy cabinet after losing their bracket 1 elimination game 9-5 to the Florida State Seminoles earlier today.
