"Would go to war for us": Vols star Drew Beam pens special message for HC Tony Vitello after winning 2024 CWS against Texas A&M

Drew Beam played a pivotal role in helping the Tennessee Volunteers win the 2024 College World Series. The pitcher praised Vols coach Tony Vitello for creating history with the program and building a team that fights for each other.

On Wednesday, just a couple of days after the Vols beat the Aggies 6-5 in the CWS finale, Beam tweeted a heartfelt message for Vitello.

"If you are a highschool player or a guy in the transfer portal, there is no other man in this world you should want to play for! this man gives his all for his guys and would go to war for us. ask anyone who has ever played for him, Go Vols baby!" Beam wrote.

UT hired Vitello in 2017. Along with the historic national championship with Tennessee, he has led the program to two Southeastern Conference regular season titles, two SEC Tournament titles, four regional championships and three super regional championships.

Since Vitello won Tennessee its maiden CWS title, his name will be etched into Vols lore. However, once the celebrations in Rocky Top end, the coach will plan the title defense for next season, and Drew Beam is likely to play another integral role if he remains with the team.

College World Series: Tennessee vs. Texas A&M

Drew Beam sparked Tennessee's comeback in the CWS finals against Texas A&M in Game 2 when the Vols were trailing 1-0 in the series. In his start, the pitcher struck out seven over four frames while allowing three hits, two walks and one run, helping Tennessee to a 4-1 win.

The Vols then went on to win Game 3 to seal the deal. However, Beam's contribution was monumental.

Beam finished the season with a 9-2 record. He racked up 99 strikeouts and 27 walks across 102.1 innings at a 4.22 ERA.
