The Texas A&M Aggies will face the Tennessee Volunteers in Game 1 of the 2024 College World Series on Saturday. The awaited game will commence at 7:30 p.m. EDT at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
Texas A&M starting pitcher today
Ryan Prager will start as Texas A&M's pitcher against Tennessee on Saturday, Aggies coach Jim Schlossnagle confirmed.
"Prager will pitch tomorrow," Schlossnagle said to reporters on Friday. "I don't have an idea who will pitch the other games."
Prager has been excellent for the Aggies this season and has racked up a 9-1 record heading into the CWS finals. The left-hander has racked up 118 strikeouts and 20 walks across 93.2 innings pitched at a 2.88 ERA.
Notably, Prager faced Tennessee earlier this season, in the SEC Tournament. He walked two batters and allowed three hits in 2.1 innings of work, throwing 53 pitches.
While speaking to reporters earlier this week, Prager recalled his game against the Vols earlier in the season, which the Aggies lost 7-4.
"The start in the SEC Tournament was shorter," Prager said. "That was the plan going into it. I think there's some familiarity with them. There's a little bit of, I don't know if it's a sense of comfort, but, like, been there, done that almost."
"But also we'll have a great game plan written up by the coaches and by our team. I think it's cool because done it against them before. But also we have to go out and execute this time and just baseball will take care of baseball," Prager added.
