The Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team competes in the SEC; it is second to Kentucky in SEC regular-season conference titles, trailing only the historic basketball powerhouse Kentucky in SEC tournament titles, and third in total wins behind Kentucky and Arkansas.
The team made its most recent appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2023, having participated in it 23 times overall. Under the leadership of head coach Nate Oats, Alabama won SEC titles in 2021 and 2023 and had the best season ever in 2023 as the top seed in the NCAA tournament.
For the majority of its existence, Alabama's men's basketball program was overshadowed by the football team; however, in the last few decades, the program has gained prominence. The team briefly held the top spot in the country in 2003 under the direction of former coach Mark Gottfried, and in 2004, they sought the title of NCAA Regional Tournament.
