Jensen's coaching journey began at her alma mater, Drake University, where she joined as a graduate assistant in 1993. Under Lisa Bluder, she served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Drake.
After spending eight seasons with the Bulldogs, Jensen was offered the head coaching position at Drake when Bluder decided to join Iowa’s basketball program in 2000. But she decided to join Bluder’s coaching staff at Iowa where she would go on to serve 20 seasons as the associate head coach. She helped the program to 16 postseason appearances in each of the last 16 seasons, 22 in total. Last year, she was honoured with the WBCA Assistant Coach of the Year and led Iowa to back-to-back national title games in 2023 and 2024. Earlier this year when Bluder announced her sudden retirement, Jensen was promoted to Iowa women's basketball head coach and signed a five-year contract with the program.
