Koby Brea is a Dominican-American college basketball player who plays as a guard for the Kentucky Wildcats, a team from the Southeastern Conference. As a freshman, he attended Norman Thomas High School in Manhattan before moving to Monsignor Scanlan High School for his sophomore year where he played for the junior varsity team. He averaged 18.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. The following year, he became the team captain and averaged 20.8 points and 7.8 rebounds. Additionally, he was named second-team All-New York as a senior. In 2020, he helped Monsignor Scanlon High School to reach the final four of the Class AA New York Catholic High School Athletic Association and it was the first time they did it in their history. Brea kicked off his college basketball career with Dayton Flyers, and as a freshman, he played in 16 games and started three of them in the 2020-21 season after missing the majority of the preseason games following injury.
Brea was the co-recipient of the Uhl Family Endowed Scholarship that season. The following year, as a redshirt freshman, Koby was named the A-10 Sixth Man of the Year. He attended all 35 games as one of the four players from the guard to do so and averaged 8.1 points and 2.9 rebounds. He was named the Ohio's College Advantage Student-Athletes of the Week and his name was also enlisted in the nominations of the Rising Star Award at the 2022 RUDYS. Brea was also honored with the Chris Daniels Memorial Most Improved Player Award. As a redshirt sophomore, he attended 28 games in the 2022-23 season and started 10 of them. Despite missing six games following injury, he managed to average 6.8 ppg and 3.3 rpg and shot 40-88 (46%) from three during conference play. In the 2023-24 season which was his redshirt junior year, he returned to the practice following surgeries and was named A-10 Sixth Man of the Year for the second time. He was also a member of the 2023-24 Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
