The LSU Tigers on Thursday posted on their Instagram account photos of WNBA legend Seimone Augustus at the Basketball Hall of Fame. The Tigers assistant coach was going through the women's basketball side, where countless artifacts and memorabilia on the history of the women's game were on display, being the newest member of the illustrious nod.
It seems as though Augustus paid a visit to the museum in Knoxville, Tennessee, throughout LSU's stay in the city. The Tigers defeated the Tennessee Volunteers in a nip-and-tuck affair, 89-87, to keep their overall record unblemished at 18-0. This is also their third straight triumph in 2024-2025 SEC play.
Here are Seimone Augustus' published photos from her visit:
Augustus was inducted into the Women's Hall of Fame earlier in 2024. The then Minnesota Lynx standout even received an enshrinement for her induction, a testament to the work she put in for women's basketball. Former teammate Lindsay Whelan presented her in the ceremony.
Third-year guard Flau'jae Johnson posted a sarcastic comment about Augustus' visit, writing:
"She think she legendary" along with some emojis that includes a goat.
For the Tennessee win, Johnson posted 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.
Since her comment, the LSU faithful have followed Johnson with their own signs of support for the retired WNBA player in the Instagram carousel post.
"OUR OWN LEGEND," one fan exclaimed with purple and gold heart emojis.
"I really don’t think enough people realize how legendary she really is. YouTube is not enough. @lsuwbkb needs to release way more footage of her playing at LSU. Then, we’ll start petitioning Capitol next. Lol," another fan shared.
"Such an amazing accomplishment," another said with a fire emoji.
Moving on from Tennessee, Augustus, Johnson, and the rest of the LSU team set their sights next on the Vanderbilt Commodores, who they will be facing on Monday at their home arena in Louisiana.
Flau'jae Johnson looks to surpass Seimone Augustus' LSU legacy
Although she never won the coveted national championship with LSU, Seimone Augustus still etched out a tremendously successful playing career as she has racked up multiple individual nods such as two Wooden Awards, two Naismith College Player of the Year awards, two AP Player of the Year awards and many more.
Meanwhile, in her third stint with the LSU Tigers after winning the national championship in her freshman campaign, Flau'jae Johnson is looking more and more like a veteran presence for her revamped team. On the season, she is averaging a team-high 19.7 markers, 6.1 boards, 2.8 assists and 1.6 swipes per game.
With LSU's aspirations to bring back the national title come March, Johnson will be one of the focal points of that particular run. If she can keep her stellar play consistent even up to her senior year, she could potentially surpass her assistant coach's playing career even in individual awards.
