Sonia Citron is a collegiate basketball guard for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) of the NCAA. Her basketball journey began at her high school, The Ursuline School. During her senior year in 2021, she averaged 26.5 points, 11.2 rebounds and assists, leading the Koalas to a perfect 14-0 record and winning the Southern Westchester Group 1 Championship. She was named Gatorade New York Player of the Year, McDonald’s All-American, Section I Miss Basketball and MaxPreps New York High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year in 2021. After a stellar senior year, Citron enrolled at Notre Dame in 2022.

During her freshman year in 2022, Citron was one of the two freshmen in the country to average at least 11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.5 steals. She was named ACC Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic team. The following year, Citron averaged 14.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists, earning a spot on the All-ACC Academic team, First-team All-ACC and was named Notre Dame’s Defensive Player of the Year. During her junior year, Notre Dame was crowned as the 2024 ACC Tournament Champions and Citron was named to the First-team All-ACC Tournament, Second-team All-ACC and All-ACC Academic team.
