Jalen Catalon plays as a safety for the UNLV Rebels and will be a senior in 2024. He hails from Mansfield, Texas, and attended Mansfield Legacy High School. Catalon joined Arkansas in 2020 and played all 10 games as a true freshman. Catalon was a semifinalist for the distinguished 2020 Jim Thorpe Award, for being the nation's best defensive back. He was named in the 2024 Preseason Third Team All-MW by Athlon and Phil Steele. Catalon transferred to the Texas Longhorns in 2023 after playing three seasons at Arkansas. He started in four and appeared in eight games and made 17 tackles of which 15 were solo, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble. His most remarkable performance was against Alabama when he made seven tackles. He faced three mid-season injuries, the first being one in 2018, followed by 2021, and then in 2023, which deserted his entire season. He is now reunited with coach Barry Odom at UNLV and is pursuing a career in sociology.
