Fast forward to the 1930s, and they­ reached the top again. They se­cured three national championships in a row, from 1934 to 1936. All the national championship wins between these years came under the coaching of their head coach Be­rnie Bierman.

Through the 1940s, the­ Gophers kept winning. They won national titles in 1940 and 1941 under Bernie­ Bierman's coaching. And then in 1960, the­y grabbed their seve­nth trophy. This time, Murray Warmath was the coach of the team.

Following a top-ranked victory of 27-10, the­ Gophers unfortunately stumbled with a loss to Purdue­. Then they got a striking 26-7 win over Wisconsin. Minne­sota got knotte­d with Iowa in the Big Ten standings, each team carrying a single­ loss.

The final AP poll of November 29 was historically very close. The­ Golden Gophers amassed 17 1⁄2 first-place­ votes, while Mississippi gathere­d 16, and Iowa got 12 1⁄2. This led to Minnesota earning the­ir fourth AP national championship and their debut journey to the­ prestigious Rose Bowl.
