The two-way star from Colorado Travis Hunter's NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) value stands at approximately $5.2 million (as per On3). He is one of the most valued collegiate athletes in American football, behind Shedeur Sanders with a valuation of $6.2 million. He recently signed a deal with Adidas and will be seen sporting their kits in the big league.
In light of this, Deion Sanders Jr., eldest son of Coach Prime, has made an interesting revelation about Hunter on the show "Zero 2 Sixty with Matt McChesney". In a discussion about his character, Bucky said:
"You know, he receives no NIL from the collective and you know, he's a big, he's one of the biggest donors to the collective, meaning he's paying a lot of other people's NIL on his team...He's paying at least 10-15 guys' NILs on the team."
Colorado is going to face the BYU Cougars in a Bowl game coming up on Dec. 28. The Buffaloes finished 9-3, ranking 23rd for the playoffs. The loss against Syracuse cost them their seat. Regardless, in 12 games, Hunter has put up 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns in 92 receives while also registering 31 tackles.
His performance awarded him multiple big trophies except for the Jim Thorpe, in which he didn't even make the finalists.
"I got the best trophy in College football": Travis Hunter regarding not winning the Jim Thorpe
The No. 12 wide receiver had an impressive college football season except for one controversy. He was not named a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award. Hunter won the Bednarik (defensive player of the year) but was put out of Jim Thorpe (best defensive back of the year).
Regarding this, he spoke at the Heisman ceremony:
"They already decided who they pick, and I don't want to talk about the Thorpe. I mean, they made their decisions. I got the best trophy in college football, so how it looks on them don't look bad on me; it look bad on them."
Despite being a junior, Travis Hunter will be taking part in the NFL draft in 2025 and is projected to be one of the top picks. The Alamo Bowl likely will be the last time Colorado fans get to see him play donning the Buffaloes' kit.
