Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter got his hands on the Heisman Trophy on Saturday after a sensational season in which he recorded 14 touchdowns, 1,152 receiving yards and 31 tackles.
During his speech on the stage, he thanked rapper Lil Wayne, who was present to support him:
"Lil Wayne, you came into our lives and my fiancee loves you. I didn't know none of your songs. She let me know because I don't listen to music, she let me know. She told me, 'You got to listen to this.' If you don't listen to music, listen to Wayne. From that day on, that's all I listen to — pregame music."

He then proceeded to sing, leaving the two-time Grammy winner amused:
"When I get in that TRX and I blast that music, I'm listening to Wayne. It's crazy, 6 foot, 7 foot, 8 foot, bunch. That's my song. I'm telling you, man, that's crazy. I respect you for coming out here, coming to support me, man."
Travis Hunter drops heartfelt message for Coach Prime and his son Shedeur

In his acceptance speech, Travis Hunter also showed love and appreciation for Deion Sanders, his coach, and Shedeur Sanders, his teammate at Colorado. Hunter has previously expressed how Coach Prime helped him gain confidence and made him believe in himself.
Recognizing their contribution, he said:
"I want to thank Coach Prime and Shedeur. Man, y'all changed my life forever. That one simple phone call to Shedeur, and look where I'm at."
Shedeur played an important role in Hunter's Heisman victory. He amassed 3,926 passing yards and 35 touchdowns in Colorado's 9-3 season.
