Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter made his first public appearance on Tuesday to surprise his brother, Trayvis, after a challenging week. Hunter has found himself at the center of a much-publicized controversy involving his fiancee, Leanna Lenee.
The situation escalated with the circulation of leaks and video clips on social media, leading to significant online scrutiny and allegedly forcing Hunter to deactivate his Instagram account.
On Christmas Eve, Hunter made his first public appearance amid the controversy to give his brother probably the best Christmas gift. Hunter partnered with Adidas, which has a market cap of $44.5 billion (as per Forbes) to officially sign Effingham County High School wide receiver Trayvis.
While handing him a pair of white cleats, Travis said:
"Welcome to Adidas Family, dawg."
The Colorado wide receiver/cornerback signed with Adidas on Dec. 12. Hunter mentioned in the latest episode of his podcast, "The Travis Hunter Show," released on Dec. 19, that Adidas turned the negotiations into a "family type of business."
"They came out spoke to my family, spoke to me. And they had to add Trayvis in the deal," he said.
Trayvis Hunter, a sophomore, played nine games for Effingham this season, accumulating 36 receptions. His total yardage amounted to 496, averaging 13.8 yards per catch. He contributed to his team's offense with six touchdowns and maintained an average of 55.1 receiving yards per game, helping his team finish 6-5 this season. His longest single reception spanned 79 yards.
He has received offers from three colleges: Tennessee State (finished 9-4), Jackson State (finished 12-2) and Georgia State (finished 3-9). Of all these offers, his best bet will be at Jackson State, where his brother played before making the move to Colorado.
