Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders is projected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL draft. He registered 3,926 yards and 35 touchdowns this season with Colorado, helping them finish 9-3 and ranked 23rd in the nation. Sanders has the Alamo Bowl coming up this Saturday against the 17th-ranked BYU Cougars.

In an interview on Thursday, Shedeur Sanders was asked how he would respond if the management of the NFL team that drafts him were interested in recruiting any of his Buffaloes teammates. Sanders highlighted LaJohntay Wester.

"LaJohntay, for sure he's going to get open. He's a threat all over the field. And it's hard. I haven't seen too many receivers get in and out the breaks how he do. And man-to-man coverage its very tough to guard him," Shedeur Sanders said.

Coach Prime recently handed LaJohntay Wester the No. 1 jersey for the Alamo Bowl in a practice session on Dec. 24. He took the number back off Wester because he slacked a bit in his studies but after he worked to get A's and B's, Coach Sanders handed him the number saying:

"He got serious, he locked in, like he locked in on the field every day, but he locked in on them grades, so he replaced those grades with A's and B's, so he got his number back."

When he was questioned about what it meant to him to get to wear the No. 1, Wester replied:

"It means a lot, first and foremost. It's a blessing to be able to get the number that you wanted. The process, it was a tough process. I had to get my grades up. But I completed it. I got it done. And I'm excited for the game on Saturday."

Winning this game will mean a lot for the Buffaloes and their fans, coming from a 1-11 season just two years ago.
