"Worrying about mouse manure": Nick Saban has wild analogy to Big Ten's $100,000 penalty for flag-planting controversy

Nick Saban shared an intriguing remark about the Ohio State-Michigan brawl following their November 30 matchup, where the latter secured a 13-10 victory. During their celebration, the Wolverines planted their flag at the center of Ohio Stadium. The incident provoked the Buckeyes who quickly rushed to confront them. The situation quickly ͏escalated into a full-sc͏ale ͏braw͏l between the teams.

Big Ten decided to take disciplinary action against both teams by fining $100,000 each. The former Alabama coach spoke about Big Ten's decision on ESPN.

"I think we need guidelines, but I think to fine these schools a $100000 is like worrying about mouse manure when you're up to ears in elephant s**t," Saban said.

"I would be more upset with my team trying to plant the flag because I think that's disrespectful and doesn't show much sportsmanship. You want to defeat the other team but this disrespect that everybody wants to show is probably not a good part of the game," Nick added.

A similar flag-planting controversy occurred during the game between Florida and Florida State. After the Gators' 31-11 victory, they planted their flag at the center of Doak S. Campbell Stadium. Seminoles coach Mike Norvell picked the flag and tossed it aside.

Former Heisman winner (1991) Desmond Howard shared another point of view countering Nick Saban.

"They celebrate everything nowadays," Howard said. "If they get a first down, you would think they scored a touchdown. They score a touchdown, you think they won a Superbowl and if they win a game, that's the way of celebrating. So to me, that's the culture now."
