Oregon Ducks Football is the college football team representing the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. Competing in the Big Ten Conference, Oregon has been a consistent contender in college football, earning numerous conference titles and bowl game appearances. The Oregon Ducks football program has won the conference titles 16 times and six division titles throughout their history. Oregon Ducks joined the Big Ten Conference in 2024 and won a conference title. The Oregon Ducks have competed in several conferences before joining the Big Ten Conference, which includes, the Pac-12 Conference, Pacific-10 Conference, Pacific Coast Conference, and Oregon Intercollegiate Football Association. Oregon Ducks football head coach
The head coach of the Oregon Ducks football team is Dan Lanning, as of 2024. Lanning took up the role of the Ducks' head coach in 2021. Under his leadership, the Ducks achieved a perfect 13-0 record in the 2024 season and won the Big Ten Championship. Lanning was also named a finalist for the Dodd Trophy, which is awarded to the nation's top college football coach.
Dan Lanning was born on April 10, 1986, in North Kansas City, Missouri. He played college football as a linebacker at William Jewell College from 2004 to 2007. Lanning began his coaching career in 2008 as a special teams coordinator, defensive backs coach, and wide receivers coach at Park Hill South High School in Kansas City. He then moved to the college level, holding various assistant coaching positions at Pittsburgh, Arizona State, Sam Houston State, Alabama, Memphis, and Georgia. In 2019, Lanning was promoted to defensive coordinator at Georgia, where he helped lead the Bulldogs to a national championship. He was hired as the head coach of the Oregon Ducks on December 11, 2021.
