Ryan Day is the head coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes, representing Ohio State University in the Big 10 Conference. Born on March 12, 1979, in New Hampshire, Ryan Day attended Manchester Central High School, where he played as a quarterback and defensive back. He attended the University of New Hampshire, where he played as a quarterback and linebacker for the Wildcats from 1998 to 2001.
Ryan Day began his coaching career in 2012 as an offensive coordinator for Temple. Following that he moved to the Boston Eagles from 2013-2014, as an offensive coordinator. Day was appointed as a quarterbacks coach by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015. In 2017, Day replaced Tim Beck as the offensive coordinator for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Day became the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2019 and is the 24th head coach of the program.
With the Ohio State Buckeyes, Day won the Dave McClain Coach of the Year award in 2019. In 2021, he took the Buckeyes through a nine-win streak season, which culminated in the Buckeyes winning the Rose Bowl. As of 2024, Ryan Day holds a record of 56-8, as per USA Today.
