
Sebastian Castro is an American defensive back who concluded his collegiate football career with the Iowa Hawkeyes in 2024. He attended Richards High School, where he began his football journey. Throughout his high school career, Sebastian Castro was recognized as Player of the Year by The Reporter and Daily Southtown, as well as earning first-team all-state honors in his senior year in 2019.
Upon joining the Iowa Hawkeyes in 2019, Sebastian redshirted his first season before making his mark in the 2020 season with a performance in a win over Michigan State. In 2021, he played in all 14 games, making tackles and earning accolades for his contributions. The following year, Sebastian started eight games out of the 13 he played, recording 22 solo tackles and 12 assists. In the 2023 season, Sebastian continued to perform, earning recognition as Pro Football Focus's first-team All-America, Associated Press third-team All-America, and Phil Steele honorable mention All-America. He was also named to the Second-team All-Big Ten by league media. Following the conclusion of the 2024 regular season, Castro announced his entry into the 2025 NFL Draft, thus concluding his six-year spell with the Hawkeyes.
