Sherrone Moore, born on February 3, 1986, is an American football coach who has been appointed as the new head coach for the Michigan Wolverines. He spent the last six seasons with the Wolverines as the offensive coordinator and became the first African-American head coach in Michigan’s illustrious history. Moore began his collegiate football journey as an offensive guard for the University of Oklahoma and led the program to two Big 12 Championships. His journey in coaching began as a graduate assistant at Louisville where he was promoted to a full-time assistant as the tight ends coach during the 2013 season. He also earned his Master’s degree in Sports Administration from Louisville before joining Central Michigan in 2014.
At Central Michigan, Sherrone Moore was hired as the tight ends coach and was promoted to assistant head coach in 2017. However, after four seasons at Mount Pleasant, Moore transferred to Michigan as the new tight ends coach. Moore helped the program build four NFL Draft picks, Zach Gentry, Olusegun Oluwatimi, Andrew Stueber, and Ryan Hayes. In the 2023-24 season, head coach Jim Harbaugh got a four-game suspension which led to Moore serving as the acting head coach for the Wolverines. He earned his first win as a head coach in a 31–6 victory over the Falcons and led the program to a 4-0 record.
