Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter has opened up about his decision to sign with Adidas. Hunter said the personal connection he had with the sneaker giant prompted him to choose them over other brands.

Despite playing for a team signed by Nike, Hunter joined the Three Stripes alongside Miami quarterback Cameron Ward. Projected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL draft, Hunter will don Adidas with Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes.

On Thursday's episode of "The Travis Hunter Show," Hunter talked about why Adidas, which has a market cap of $44.5 billion (as per Forbes), was successful in signing the wide receiver:

"You know, I'm not signing nothing that ain't got no family involved. They involve my family...And once you do that, and once you keep that connection, we had a connection for a while. we was talking with the family," he said.

"They always came out and showed me love, no matter what, no matter what they heard from any other team that was trying to get to me. They kept it, you know, as a family type of business. And we still work as a family. I love the Adidas family. They came out spoke to my family, spoke to me. And they had to add Travers in the deal. It's got to be right with Travers in it," Hunter added.

Hunter has amassed 1,152 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns on 92 receptions as a wide receiver. He also clocked 31 total tackles with 11 passes defended as a cornerback. He was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.

Dez Bryant and Shedeur Sanders speak up in support of Travis Hunter after clips of his fiancee surface online

Travis Hunter's fiancee, Leanna Lenee, has copped criticism after videos of her surfaced online.

One video showed her dressed in a schoolgirl outfit seemingly twerking on one man. Another video is allegedly from a music video by Knotti $lim, uploaded three years ago and still up on his YouTube channel. Travis and Leanna have been dating for five years.

After the music video clip went viral, Dez Bryant, former Cowboys and Ravens wide receiver, weighed in on the matter.

"I've tried my best not to get into Travis' business... but I had to after seeing this... I'm here to tell you, brother... wake up and quit playing. She talked all that s**t about you.., saying she was going to address the situation once, but kept talking about it...She loves the attention way more than you..." Bryant said.
"I have not seen any hate tweets about Travis; people are concerned because he's a unique individual. You can tell he’s a great person.. people don’t want to see him f***ed up...I bet the stats on black male athletes in relationships with unqualified women are horrible....I wish people spoke loudly like this when I was playing..."

Hours after the clips surfaced, Hunter deactivated his Instagram account. Seeing the outrage, Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders tweeted:

"All y’all athletes, entertainers, artist etc if y’all genuine trying to holla at trav y’all know how to get in touch with him or someone around. At this point y’all just posting for the algorithm trying to look cool."

Travis Hunter will be hoping to move past the contrvoersy and focus on the upcoming Alamo Bowl.
