Travis Hunter is a two-way player who plays both as a cornerback and wide receiver. He played for the Colorado Buffaloes in college football in the 2024 season. He started his collegiate career with the Jackson State Tigers in 2022. However, he remained with the team for only the 2022 season. After the 2022 season, Deion Sanders, the former head coach of the Jackson State Tigers team, left to join the Colorado Buffaloes. Accordingly, Travis Hunter transferred to the Colorado Buffaloes in 2023.

Throughout Travis Hunter's college football career with the Colorado Buffaloes, he participated in 22 games and accumulated 1979 receiving yards, 20 touchdowns, and 153 receptions. On the defensive side of the ball, the ball hawk defensive back has recorded 66 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and 7 interceptions (via Sports Reference). His football career has seen him being the recipient of Second-team All-Pac-12, Paul Hornung Award, and Consensus All-American Award in 2023. He was also named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, earned First-team All-Big 12 honors (offense and defense), and won the prestigious Heisman Trophy in 2024.
