Will Nixon plays as a running back for the Syracuse Orange college football team. Nixon will be redshirted as a junior in 2024. He is a native of Waco, Texas, and graduated from Midway High School. During his high school career, Nixon demonstrated an adequate dual-threat quality with over 2,000 offensive yards from scrimmage for 29 touchdowns. He also rushed 1,837 yards for 27 touchdowns and threw 40 passes for 500 yards as a junior. Nixon received the District MVP and earned a spot in the Rivals' list of top-100 wide receivers in the nation for his successful high school career. Nixon was rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals which helped him attract offers from top football programs. He began his collegiate career at Nebraska Cornhuskers in 2020.

Will Nixon was rested due to a major injury that ruled out his entire 2020 season. In 2021, Nixon played three games and made one reception against Washington. At Nebraska, he earned a spot in the Academic All-Big Ten and won the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. Nixon transferred to Washington in 2022, he played in 11 games over two seasons and registered 89 rushing yards for two touchdowns. He had a remarkable season in 2023, where played all 15 games for the Washington Huskies and led the team to the PAC-12 Championship, and also qualified for the College Football National Championship Playoff game. That season, he rushed 201 yards for one touchdown and was ranked as the second player on his team to catch 13 passes for 84 yards. In 2024, as per his official Syracuse Orange profile, Nixon transferred to Syracuse after earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Washington.
