He transferred to Syracuse in the summer of 2024 after playing a season for the Washington Huskies. Nixon started his collegiate career in 2020 for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and did not play a single game for the entire season. Nixon played 15 games as a redshirt sophomore and 11 games as a redshirt freshman for the Huskies. As a freshman in 2021, he appeared in three games during his debut season.
