South Africa have stayed chokers in the biggest event of the T20 format as well. They have never made it to the finals of the event despite playing all the editions. They reached the semi-finals of 2009 and 2014 which is their best performance at the WT20. However, the Proteas have an exceptional win percentage of 60 at the global event.

They have won 18 out of the 30 matches they have played while losing 12 out of them. The South African side failed to make it to the knock-out stage in the only T20 World Cup it hosted in 2007 as they crashed to a heavy loss at the hands of the Indian team in a vital match.
