The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup is scheduled to be the eighth ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament, scheduled to be played in Australia from 16 October to 13 November 2022.
Originally, the tournament was to be held in 2020, however, in July 2020, the International Cricket Council confirmed that the tournament had been postponed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In August 2020, the ICC also confirmed that Australia would host the rearranged tournament in 2022 with the T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in India in 2021 as originally planned but was later moved to UAE and Oman.
On 21 January 2022, the ICC confirmed all the fixtures for the tournament. Hosts Australia are also the defending champions.
History
The first-ever Cricket World Cup in the shortest format of the game was hosted by South Africa in 2007. Team India’s new-found captain MS Dhoni and his young team climbed great heights and won the inaugural tournament. It paved the way for the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008. Since then, the T20 format has seen new world champions like Pakistan (2009), England (2010), West Indies (2012 and 2016), Sri Lanka (2014) and Australia(2021).
Qualification
Eight teams have been divided into two groups (Group 1 and Group 2). There are two spots empty in each group. The four spots in these groups will be fought for by eight other teams that will battle it out in Round 1 and then qualify for the Super 12.
Schedule
The 2022 T20 World Cup is scheduled to be the eighth ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament, scheduled to be played in Australia from 16 October to 13 November 2022. Each team selected a squad of fifteen players before 10 October 2022.
Venues
The ICC confirmed the venues that will host matches across the tournament which are Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. The semi-finals would take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground and the Adelaide Oval, with the final taking place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The twelve teams that reached the Super 12 phase of the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa, Namibia, Scotland, Sri Lanka and the West Indies.
