‘The Ashes’ series is a Test series played between the first two Test playing nations, England and Australia. The first ever Ashes test series was played in 1882/83 season. The England cricket team won the first 8 Ashes series until Australia claimed the Ashes urn for the first time in 1891/92.

Ashes Winners List - From 1882 to 2019-20

The scoreline read 11-1 in the first 12 series before Australia became the competitive side. The tussle was even more after that season. In fact, the Aussies have edged past England in most number of Ashes test wins and Ashes series wins. England has won 106 Ashes tests, which is 28 less than the Aussies, and 32 series wins which is one less than Australia.
