England leads the head-to-head record with 30 wins in comparison to Pakistan’s 23 victories, with 39 matches ending in a draw, as of January 2025.

Harry Brook

Harry Brook scored his maiden triple century in Tests for England against Pakistan in Multan on October 7, 2024. According to NDTV Sports, Brook smashed the fastest triple century by an English batter in Test cricket and the second-fastest in Test history, only behind Virender Sehwag.

Denis Compton

It was the second Test of the Pakistan tour to England in 1954. After a drawn first game, the two sides headed to Nottingham where Pakistan elected to bat first after winning the toss. After bowling the visitors for 157, England came in to bat and Denis Compton played the innings of his life, where he smashed 278 runs and helped his side to post 558/6 runs after which they declared their innings. England went on to win the match by an innings and129 runs which was also their first Test victory over Pakistan.

Zaheer Abbas

During the first Test of the 1971 series between the two sides, Pakistan opted to bat first where they scored a massive 608/7 before they declared their innings. Zaheer Abbas was the highlight, as he secured 274 runs which is the third-highest individual score in England vs Pakistan Test matches, as of January 2025.

Zak Crawley

Pakistan played against England in Southampton for the 3rd Test of the 2020 series where England won the toss and batted first. Zak Crawley came in at number 3 and hit a colossal 267 runs which helped England reach 583/8 (D) in their first innings. The match ended in a draw.

Alastair Cook

England and Pakistan met in the opening match of the 2015 series in UAE. In England’s first innings, skipper Alastair Cook led from the front after Pakistan posted a total of 523-8 (D) in their first innings. Cook took to the Pakistani bowlers and hit 263 runs, as England gained a 75-run lead after scoring 598-9 (D). The match ended in a draw.

Joe Root

Joe Root played a second fiddle to Harry Brook and smashed his way to a doble entury. He scored 262 off 375 balls in Multan on October 7, 2024. He also scored 17 boundaries in the innings.

Javed Miandad

In the 1987 Pakistan tour to England, the two teams faced each other in the 5th Test at The Oval, where Javed Miandad scored 260 in Pakistan's first innings and they reached a huge total of 708. Miandad was adjudged the “Player of the Match” for his double-century.

Joe Root

Pakistan squared off against England in Manchester for the 2nd Test in July 2016. England went onto bat first and Joe Root hit 254 runs while batting at number 3. England defeated Pakistan convincingly by 330 runs and Joe Root bagged the “Player of the Match” award for his all-round performance. Joe Root is the only English player to feature on this list twice, alongside his Pakisntani counterpart, Zaheer Abbas.

Shoaib Malik

In the same match where Alastair Cook scored 263, Shoaib Malik showed his batting master-class in Pakistan’s first innings. Malik smashed 245 runs which propelled his team to reach 523-8 (D). This knock is the ninth highest individual score in England vs Pakistan Test matches, as of January 2025.

Zaheer Abbas

When Pakistan battled against England in the 3rd Test of the 1974 series, Pakistan’s Zaheer Abbas flourished once again with a double ton, scoring 240 in Pakistan’s first innings. The team ended up with a total of 600-7 (D), and the match ended in a draw. Abbas is the only Pakistani player to feature twice in this list.
