#4 – Most sixes in a World T20 match

Chris Gayle England West Indies World T20 2016

World T20 champions, West Indies also played their first match of the tournament against fellow finalists, England at the batting paradise that is the Wankhede Stadium. England put on a challenging total of 182 in 20 overs after useful knocks from Joe Root and Jos Buttler.

Chris Gayle showed exactly why he considered the best in the format as he scored a brilliant unbeaten 100 off 48 balls. This was his second hundred in the World T20, thus equalling Brendon McCullum's record. Gayle smashed 5 fours and 11 sixes during his blistering knock.

The number of sixes hit by Gayle was the highest ever hit by a batsman in a World T20 match. Funnily enough, Gayle broke his own record of having hit 10 sixes in a 2007 ICC World T20 match against South Africa, the very innings he scored his first World T20 hundred.
