ICC World T20 2016: 5 Players who failed to live up to the expectations

David Warner

David Warner has been Australia’s best batsman across all the formats in the last 2-3 years. A lot of hopes were pinned on him ahead of the tournament as he adapted well in the middle order during the series against South Africa in which he scored 130 runs in three innings including a match-winning 77 in the second T20I at Johannesburg.

After performing so well in the build up to the tournament, Warner failed to deliver when it mattered the most. In the four innings he played, he scored just 38 runs at an average of 9.5.

This hurt Australia badly as they failed to qualify for the semis. At the end of the day, it all comes down to the team management’s decision to make a player of Warner’s calibre play in the middle order. A decision which completely backfired.
