Hosts opening with defeat, again
Out of the six occasions of the T20 World Cup, only twice have the hosts tasted defeat in their very first match, which also turns out to be the opening game of the tournament. The first of those instances took place at Lord’s in 2009, as the Dutch surprised England with a magical run chase.
India became the second hosts to lose their first match of the tournament as they were shocked by New Zealand in Nagpur.
