The 17th edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will take place on Australian soil between November 24, 2024, to January 3, 2025. The first Test will take place in Perth between November 22-26 before the teams move to Adelaide for the second game between December 6-10. The third Test will take place in Brisbane, where the last BGT was decided when the Indians were in town. This match will take place between December 14-18. The iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (December 26-30) in Melbourne will host the Boxing Day Test. The fifth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney between January 3-7 will cap off the Test series.
Constituted in 1996, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has thrown up so many iconic moments over the years, thereby cementing the Indian-Australian rivalry as the summit of Test cricket. India has held the Border-Gavaskar Trophy since 2017, winning 4 series on the bounce, including twice Down Under- in 2018/19 & 2020/21. This series will be a golden opportunity for Pat Cummins and his men to avenge the defeat of 2021/22. For India, it will be another opportunity to further assert their dominance on Australian soil and aim for a shot in the ICC World Test Championship Final (2023-25).
