The sight of a batter smashing the ball out of the ground with ridiculous ease gives immense goosebumps irrespective of where our loyalties lie. The feeling is so majestic that one wants to see it happen over and over again.

Of course, not everyone can do that. Throughout the last 16 seasons of the IPL, we have been blessed to witness a plethora of six-hitting machines that have whetted our appetite beyond the realms of reality.

Today, we bring you the list of the most sixes by a batsman in an innings in IPL history. Some of the biggest names in the business feature in the list and their stats will surely leave you stunned. So let’s get in and see who took a toll on that white cricket ball and sent it right to the fans sitting in the stadium!

Chris Gayle - 17 Sixes

At the first spot, we have the Universe Boss himself Chris Gayle, whose record-breaking innings of 175* in 2013 against Pune Warriors India light up the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. In his blistering knock, he smashed 17 sixes! Yes, you read that right, seven-teen!

Brendon McCullum - 13 Sixes

Next up is a legendary white-ball player, Brendon McCullum. This score of 158 came in the first-ever match of the IPL way back in 2008 where the Kiwi smoked RCB’s bowlers for 13 massive blows into the stands. This inning remains one of the greatest of all time in the history of the league!

Surprised to see Gayle again!? Well, he features numerous times in this list and that’s enough to say about the magnitude of the sheer power that is stored inside the West Indian batter. He notched 128* against the Delhi Capitals in the 2012 season where sent the ball sailing 13 times in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Speaking of The Universe Boss, the former West Indies captain bookends the top five thanks to the 12 sixes he smashed during his 57-ball 117 against the Punjab Kings in IPL 2015.
