Moeen Ali an English all-rounder made his IPL debut in 2018 for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He got to play in only 5 matches in which he scored merely 77 runs and took 3 wickets. The following year, Moeen Ali got more opportunities to show his potential. In the 11 matches, he scored 220 runs at an average of 27.50 and an incredible strike rate of 165.41. Also, he took 6 wickets while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 6.76 runs per over.

In 2020, he featured in only three IPL matches. He took only 1 wicket and scored 12 runs. The following year, Moeen Ali was released from the team and was bought by the Chennai Super Kings franchise. He scored his highest IPL score of 93 against Rajasthan Royals in the last match of the season. With the ball, Ali was just as economical as in previous seasons. While picking up 8 wickets, Ali maintained an economy rate of 6.63 runs per over.

Moeen Ali’s IPL Auction Price

Moeen Ali was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise in the 2018 IPL auction for Rs. 1.70 crores. For the next couple of years, he was retained by his team. In 2021, RCB released the English all-rounder, who Chennai Super Kings later picked up for Rs. 7.00 crores in the auction. CSK could not retain Moeen Ali the following year ahead of the 2022 IPL Mega Auction. CSK had to buy Moeen Ali in the auctions for Rs. 8 crores and retained him in 2023 and 2024.
