2024 T20 World Cup Points Table: Updated standings after Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh match

In what was a thrilling low-scoring encounter, Bangladesh emerged victorious by two wickets against Sri Lanka in Match 15 of the 2024 T20 World Cup. With this, Bangladesh have opened their account with two points and are in third spot in Group D.

At the Grand Prairie Stadium on June 7, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first. While Pathum Nissanka looked dangerous, making 47 off 28, Sri Lanka lost wickets continuosly. Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain was superb, taking three wickets while Mustafizur Rahman also bagged 3/17.

Chasing 125, Bangladesh endured a rocky start. They lost three wickets for 26 runs before a partnership of 63 between Liton Das and Towhid Hridoy took them close to the target. Sri Lanka then pegged them back brilliantly by taking wickets in a cluster. However, Mahmudullah's unbeaten 16 was enough to see Bangladesh over the line.

With this, Sri Lanka are rock bottom of the Group D points table. They also lost against South Africa and have zero points after two games. Bangladesh, meanwhile, have one win in one game. They will be face the Proteas on June 10.
