Afghanistan took on Bangladesh in the 52nd match of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Tuesday, June 25. The Afghans decided to bat first after winning the toss at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent.

Afghanistan started slowly but crossed the 50-run mark in the ninth over. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 43 runs off 55 deliveries, while no other batter scored more than 20 runs. The Afghans finished their innings on 115 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Rishad Hossain was the pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers, taking three wickets for 26 runs in four overs.

The second innings was reduced to 19 overs, and Bangladesh were handed a 114-run target. The chasing side started on a decent note, collecting 13 runs in the first over. However, they kept losing wickets regularly after that over. Bangladesh were bundled out for 105 runs and lost the match by eight runs. Naveen-ul-Haq and Rashid Khan took four wickets each for Afghanistan.

Naveen won the Player of the Match award for his bowling performance.
