New Zealand lost to Afghanistan by 84 runs in the 14th match of the T20 World Cup 2024. The Kiwis won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran added 103 runs for the first wicket for Afghanistan. The Afghans posted 159 runs for the loss of six wickets. Trent Boult and Matt Henry took two wickets each for New Zealand.

In reply, New Zealand struggled from the very first over and lost three wickets in the powerplay. Only two batters managed to reach double digits. The Kiwis were eventually bundled out for 75 runs. It was Afghanistan’s first win over New Zealand in T20Is. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Rashid Khan took four wickets each for Afghanistan.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, decided to bowl first against Sri Lanka after winning the toss in the 15th game. Pathum Nissanka scored 47 runs off 28 deliveries and helped the Lankans post 124 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain picked three wickets each for the Bangla Tigers.

Bangladesh initially struggled in the chase, losing three wickets for 28 runs. A 61-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy helped them bounce back. Mahmudullah remained unbeaten on 16 runs off 13 deliveries, helping Bangladesh win the match by two wickets in 19 overs. Rishad won the Player of the Match award.

Ibrahim Zadran has moved to third place from sixth position and has amassed 114 runs in two games for Afghanistan.

Andries Gous has slipped to fourth position from second with 100 runs in two matches at a strike rate of 138.88.

Nicholas Kirton has moved to fifth place from third and has 100 runs to his name in two games at a strike rate of 151.51.

Michael Jones has slipped to sixth place from fifth with 71 runs in two innings at a strike rate of 142.

Shreyas Movva is still in seventh place and has made 69 runs in two matches at a strike rate of 132.69.

Marcus Stoinis is still in eighth position with 67 runs off 36 for Australia in the first match.

Navneet Dhaliwal is still in ninth place, having amassed 67 runs in two matches at an average of 33.50.
