Team India will lock horns with Afghanistan in their first Super 8 match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Thursday, June 20. It is an important game for both teams, and they will look to start this phase of the tournament with a win.

India haven't lost a game so far in the mega competition. They won their first three league games to qualify for the Super 8s as table-toppers from Group A. The Men in Blue's final group game against Canada in Florida was washed out due to inclement weather conditions.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, qualified for the Super 8 phase after finishing second in their group. The Afghans won their first three group games, including a win against New Zealand, to finish with six points. They lost their final group fixture to co-hosts West Indies.

Although India have won seven of their eight head-to-head meetings, Afghanistan will not go down without a fight. Thus, another cracking game awaits fans and they are expected to fill the stadium in huge numbers.

While bright and sunny conditions will welcome the cricketers in Barbados, clouds might settle in with the game. There is very little chance of precipitation during the match, with the odd passing shower a remote possibility.

The temperature, meanwhile, will hover around 31-32 degrees Celsius. However, the actual feeling would be five to six degrees higher than the original temperature due to high humidity levels.

"We might need something different here in Barbados" - India's head coach Rahul Dravid indicates changes in the playing XI

Despite picking four spinners in their 15-member squad, the Men in Blue stuck to two spinners in the pace-friendly conditions in the USA. This raised questions among fans as to why the team picked four spinners.

Addressing reporters ahead of the Afghanistan game, head coach Rahul Dravid hinted at bringing either Yuzvendra Chahal or Kuldeep Yadav into the playing XI.

"It's tough to leave anyone out," Dravid said. "New York had pace bowlers' conditions slightly different. We might need something different here in Barbados. Yuzvendra Chahal or Kuldeep Yadav could be used here. We are lucky to have players with all-round abilities. We had eight batters but we also had seven bowling options."

Who between Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal should make India's playing XI? Let us know in the comments.
