Team India will take on South Africa in the all-important T20 World Cup 2024 final at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Saturday, June 29. Both teams are undefeated in the tournament.

India defeated defending champions England in the semi-finals to set up a date with South Africa in the summit clash. In a rain-marred contest in Guyana, the Men in Blue posted 171/7 in their 20 overs, with Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav making significant contributions. The Indian bowlers did an excellent job yet again to bowl out Jos Buttler and company for 103 to win by 68 runs.

The Asian giants will look to continue their blistering form and beat South Africa to win their first T20 World Cup title since 2007.

The Proteas, on the other hand, have steamrolled Afghanistan in the first semi-final to make it to their first-ever T20 World Cup final. They bowled out the Afghans for just 56 runs before chasing it down in just 8.5 overs. Aiden Markram and his men have played an aggressive brand of cricket and will look to the same form against the mighty Indian to bring home the trophy.

With the trophy up for grabs, both teams will come up with all guns blazing, and a cracking contest is on the cards. Fans will also likely turn up in huge numbers to witness two heavyweights go up against each other.

Much to the dismay of fans, there are thunderstorms in the forecast for Saturday in Barbados. According to Accuweather, there will be heavy rainfall during the final between India and South Africa, coupled with significant clouds. Thus, a start-stop encounter is on the cards on Saturday.

However, fans shouldn't worry much given there is a reserve day for the T20 World Cup final. If a result can't be achieved on Saturday, the game will shift to the reserve day, i.e. Sunday to ascertain a winner.

"It’s just about ensuring that physically, mentally, tactically we are ready for the game" - Rahul Dravid ahead of India vs South Africa final

Rohit Sharma and company didn't have any practice sessions before the final due to the cramped schedule. However, India's head coach Rahul Dravid didn't seem perturbed by it and stated his charges are ready for the final.

“It’s just about ensuring that physically, mentally, tactically we are ready for the game. Those are the things that we can control – that we are fresh, that we have looked after all our niggles if there are any, we have done all our tactical preparation and they are mentally relaxed and excited and looking forward to the game and try and get ourselves in the right frame of mind,” Dravid told reporters.
