Australian captain Mitchell Marsh was all cheers for Bangladesh after a 24-run defeat to Team India in T20 World Cup Super 8 game on Monday. The West Australian admitted that Indian bowlers were too good, preventing Australia from hitting boundaries.

With Bangladesh set to face Afghanistan in the final game of Super 8, the former must win for Australia to progress to the knockouts. The Tigers are yet to win a game in Super 8 and face a high-flying Afghanistan, whose historic victory against Australia has reignited their campaign.

At the post-match presentation, Marsh reflected that India were the better team on the day but lauded Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell for keeping Australia on track at one stage. He elaborated:

"Disappointing. It happens in the game of cricket. In the course of 40 overs, there are a lot of small margins. India were the better team, Rohit is a class player.
"(On Head and Maxwell's batting) Gave us more belief than hope. In a run chase like that if you keep it at 10 an over, we are in the game. India's bowlers were too good though in the end. Come on, Bangladesh now!"

Head fought almost until the end with the brisk knock of 76 before Jasprit Bumrah outfoxed him with a slower delivery. A victory for Afghanistan against Bangladesh will eliminate Australia.

Marsh made a promising 37 after David Warner was dismissed cheaply in the first over of their run-chase.

The 32-year-old made good connection against Kuldeep Yadav in the ninth over of the innings to hit it for six over square leg, but Axar timed his jump perfectly to take the catch one-handed.

Arshdeep Singh finished as the pick of the bowlers for India with figures of 4-0-37-3. The inaugural World T20 champions will square off against England in the second semifinal in Guyana.
