Former Australia cricketer & USA head coach turns to LinkedIn after discrimination charges

Former Australia cricketer and USA men's cricket team head coach Stuart Law has turned to LinkedIn in search of cricket coaching roles. He was recently dismissed from his role following reported allegations of discrimination.

His exit and the post regarding his job search have raised eyebrows concerning team management and the treatment of players in the USA national cricket team. Being a former Australian cricketer, Stuart Law previously worked as a coach with Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. The stint with the USA side was his most recent one.

USA jointly hosted the 2024 T20 World Cup and Stuart was a part of the team management. If reports are to be believed, the relationship between him and the players turned ugly during the 2024 T20 World Cup and the Netherlands tour that followed.

As per a Cricbuzz report, USA players had written a letter against Stuart, accusing him of his malicious outlook towards certain players in the team. They wrote about how it affected the team environment and further wrote about how he created mistrust among players.

Moreover, the letter also revealed how Stuart discriminated against certain players, which subjected them to alienation and demoralization. The former head coach was also accused of turning the players against captain Monank Patel. Other Indian-origin players like Harmeet Singh and Milind Kumar also faced problems.

How did USA perform in the 2024 T20 World Cup?

USA co-hosted the marquee T20 tournament along with the West Indies. They were a part of Group A alongside India, Pakistan, Canada, and Ireland. The co-hosts won 2 out of their 4 group-stage matches.

They defeated Canada by seven wickets. Their biggest win came against Pakistan, whom they defeated in a thrilling contest that went into the Super Over. They finished second with five points and made it to the Super Eights.

However, they lost all three of their Super Eights matches. Nonetheless, making it past the group stage came as a big achievement for the side in an ICC tournament.
