Team India will lock horns with England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Thursday, June 27, at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The winner of this contest will meet South Africa in the final on Saturday, June 29.

While India have dominated the tournament so far, it has been a topsy-turvy ride for the defending champions. They were all but out of the competition at one stage but staged an excellent comeback to qualify for the last four.

The two teams also met in the semi-finals of the last edition of the T20 World Cup at the Adelaide Cricket Ground. England successfully gunned down 169 runs in 16 overs with 10 wickets in hand to knock the Men in Blue out of the tournament. Jos Buttler and company eventually won the trophy by beating Pakistan in the summit clash.

India will look to avenge that defeat from 2022, while England will look to make their second final in a row.

A cracking contest beckons fans in Guyana tonight and a full house is expected. However, the conditions look gloomy, and the forecast suggests heavy rainfall throughout the game. The city has witnessed severe rainfall in the last few days and the trend is likely to continue.

According to AccuWeather, the skies will remain clear in the morning but conditions will turn bleak as the game progresses. There is heavy rainfall in the forecast for Guyana throughout the game, coupled with heavy cloud cover. Thus, a delayed encounter is on the cards if at all a game of cricket is played.

The temperature, meanwhile, will hover around 30 degrees Celsius with high humidity levels.

"We want to treat this game as another game" - India skipper Rohit Sharma ahead of semi-final

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has asserted that they will look to treat the semi-final against England as just another match in the T20 World Cup 2024 so that there is not much pressure on the players.

Speaking to reporters on the eve of the game, Rohit said:

"We want to treat this game as another game that we have played in this tournament. We don't want to think about what lies ahead and what is the context of the game and all of that. Everyone knows in the back of their mind it's a semi-final. But you don't want to keep talking about it again and again and again. And not to think about what has happened in the past."
